A Rio Linda man was lucky to be alive Wednesday when he was rescued after two days at the bottom of a Vallejo cliff with two badly injured legs, Vallejo Fire Department spokesman Kevin Brown said.
At about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Vallejo Fire and Medic Ambulance responded to a report of a fall in the hills between Admiral Callaghan and Interstate-80, after two cattle ranchers on horseback discovered the young man had fallen off a cliff about a mile north of Columbus Parkway, Brown said.
“The patient is a 21-year-old man from Rio Linda, who was hiking north of the auto mall Saturday afternoon about 3 p.m.,” he said. “He’d hiked up and decided to peer over the edge and slipped and fell. He broke one of his femurs and suffered an unknown injury to his other leg. He had possible fractured ribs as well.”
