The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released details on another fatal crash that has occurred on Highway 70, this one near Feather River Boulevard in Yuba County south of Marysville.
The fatal incident occurred early Friday morning just before 5:00 a.m.
38-year-old Edgar Ernst of Rio Linda was driving his Honda Accord northbound at an unknown speed. According to the CHP, Ernst and his Accord traveled across the center divider onto the southbound lanes of Highway 70, going in the wrong direction.
At this time 64-year-old Brian Allen of Marysville was headed southbound on Highway 70. His 2007 Kia Optima was struck by Honda driven by Ernst, according to the CHP.
Brian Allen died as a result of the crash. Ernst received minor injuries, including laceration of his chin. He complained to officers of back pain.
Both cars sustained major damage. The Honda landed on its roof on the right shoulder and the Kia came to rest on its wheels, blocking two lanes of southbound traffic.
The collision in still under investigation and drugs are suspected to be a factor, said the CHP.
