RIO LINDA, CA (March 24, 2025) – A late-night investigation by Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies on March 23, 2025, led to the arrest of two Rio Linda men on drug and firearm charges.
Deputies patrolling the 7200 block of Pleasant Grove Road observed a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a residential driveway. A front-seat passenger, later identified as 41-year-old David Morris of Rio Linda, exited the vehicle and quickly approached the residence.
Upon contacting the driver, deputies discovered he was driving without a license. Attention then shifted to the backseat passenger, 48-year-old Brian Fleenor, also of Rio Linda, who was seen attempting to conceal a suspected methamphetamine pipe.
As deputies continued their investigation, Morris returned to the vehicle, carrying an item concealed within his hat. A subsequent records check revealed an outstanding out-of-county arrest warrant for Morris. Fleenor admitted to possessing a bag of methamphetamine located in the vehicle’s backseat.
A search of the area where Morris had walked yielded an unloaded Ruger semi-automatic firearm and a bag containing 1.21 net grams of methamphetamine. The firearm’s serial number did not return any matches in the system. Further investigation revealed Morris was a convicted felon with two prior narcotics convictions.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 22.82 net grams of methamphetamine and a meth pipe, as indicated by Fleenor. Under the driver’s seat, deputies located another meth pipe and an additional 3.17 net grams of methamphetamine. In total, deputies seized approximately 27.20 net grams of methamphetamine.
Morris was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, and his outstanding out-of-county warrant. Fleenor was arrested and booked for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions (Prop 36).
The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation, and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
