On June 24th at roughly 9pm, a collision took place at 22nd and E Streets that took the life of a young motorcyclist, identified as 26-year-old Matt Chacon of Rio Linda.
I spoke with CHP Officer AJ McTaggart this morning to get the latest and most accurate information.
CHP investigation has revealed that Chacon was traveling westbound on E Street. As Chacon approached the intersection, a dark-colored Ford F250 pickup truck stopped at the stop sign on 22nd Street, but then for unknown reasons entered the intersection where they collided.
Metro Fire paramedics responded to the scene, but could not save Chacon. He died as a result of the accident.
Video recovered from the area indicates that speed was not a factor in the collision. CHP says that intoxication was not a factor, either. The driver of the truck has been identified, but CHP has not yet released that information.
The CHP investigation is continuing.
A GoFundMe has been established to assist the family. You can find it at https://www.gofundme.com/f/matt-goose-chacon?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cp%20share-sheet&fbclid=IwAR1HLCPnIjBxeeYJq6fw0C-qMYN9tj_tt5n0wrav6ITWRMQSnRK3ZdWpFcU
