
Rio Linda, CA – The Rio Linda community is remembering Leon Robert Glasgow, a dedicated educator and artist who spent 20 years shaping the lives of students at Rio Linda High School. Mr. Glasgow passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 81, from complications of a heart condition.
For two decades, Mr. Glasgow was a fixture at Rio Linda High School, serving as an art teacher, vice-principal, and principal. His impact on the school and its students was profound, leaving a legacy that is still felt today.
“Mr. Glasgow wasn’t just a teacher; he was a mentor,” said one forme student. “He had a way of connecting with students, encouraging us to explore our creativity and reach our full potential. He truly cared about each and every one of us.”
Known for his passion for the arts, Mr. Glasgow shared his love of ceramics and sculpture with his students, fostering a creative environment that inspired many to pursue their own artistic endeavors. His dedication extended beyond the classroom, as he was a constant presence at school events and activities.
Beyond his role at the high school, Mr. Glasgow was a respected member of the Rio Linda community. He was known for his involvement in local arts initiatives and his commitment to supporting students and families.
Prior to his time at Rio Linda High School, Mr. Glasgow earned a Masters of Fine Arts degree in ceramics and sculpture from Chico State University. He later served as a principal and superintendent in the East Nicolaus Joint Union School District.
Mr. Glasgow’s impact on the Rio Linda community will be remembered for years to come. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, creativity, and service.
A celebration of Leon’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1st at noon at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Sacramento.
