Today’s Sacramento Bee published their 2017 All-Metro Teams, and Knights Defensive Lineman Nehemiah Cummings has been named to the All-Metro first team defense.
Cummings, a Senior, had 56 total tackles on the year, with 12 of those resulting in a loss of yardage. He also recorded 9 sacks for 47 lost yards. For good measure, he also had a blocked punt.
Running back Cameron Skattebo was named to the All-Metro second team.
Skattebo, a Sophomore, had 159 carries for 992 yards on the year, averaging 6.2 yards per carry. He averaged 82 yards per game and scored nine touchdowns.
He also caught 15 passes for 272 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging 18 yards per catch.
Tyson Ybarra, a Junior, was named to the second team defense. Ybarra had 30 tackles on the year and two interceptions.
Offensive lineman Nick Salaices was given honorable mention.
The Knights finished the year ranked #20 in the SacBee’s Prep Football Top 20. Their record was 7-5, with a 16-14 playoff win at Los Banos and a well played loss to Christian Brothers in the section quarterfinals at Hughes Stadium.
The Knights will return 25 of this year’s 44 Varsity players in 2018, and first year head coach Jack Garceau will bring some much needed stability in his second year.
Buckle up! The 2018 season should be a great one.
