This holiday season is going to be very difficult for many of our friends and neighbors. It is only a temporary situation for many so if we can afford to give a little to them through the holidays it would be wonderful. Times will get better and many of the families that we provide for today will prosper and provide for another tomorrow.
Over 60 years ago Ruby Wilson started a Christmas basket program to help needy families share the joy and happiness of the holiday season. Ruby passed away a few years back, but her spirit linger on through Ruby’s Baskets, A tradition carried on by the Rio Linda Community , and the Rio Linda Lions Club. Lion Ed Valencia is the chief basketier but could not do it without the help from the schools, businesses, organizations, and the community members who come together to make this program a success every year.
Collection boxes are located at 145 Club, Creek Side Diner, Rio Linda Library, the Community Center, and your local School.
Application to a receive a basket will be taken at the Rio Linda Community Center 6730 Front Street on Dec.8th threw Dec.11, 2014 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
