On July 31st, 2018, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call about a man being shot on Quadra Avenue in Rio Linda. Deputies were met by a man with a firearm, according to sergeant Shaun Hampton. Both the male with the firearm and another male were detained.
Upon entering the residence, Deputies found a man in his 70s who suffered at least one gunshot wound. Metro Fire paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. Deputies arrested one man, Wesley Heaton Scobee.
Scobee and his father Ernie Scobee resided in that Quadra Ave. home.
On Friday, March 6, 2020, Scobee was convicted by a jury of the second-degree murder of his father, Ernie Scobee. The jury also found that the defendant used a firearm causing death. Scobee shot his father in the head, killing him, while his father was sleeping on a couch.
Scobee faces a maximum sentence of 40 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for April 17, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in Department 42 before the Honorable Allen Sumner.
