Sheriff’s Deputies and investigators responded to the 1200 block of I Street yesterday afternoon to investigate a body that had been found in an abandoned Uhaul moving van.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department issued a media release today with more information;
Just before 3:30 P.M. on Sunday, August 20, 2023, the California Highway Patrol responded to a neighborhood on I Street in Rio Linda to recover a moving van that had been reported stolen a few days earlier. Upon arrival, they discovered what they believed to be a human body in the back of the van and requested Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies respond to investigate.
Deputies arrived at the scene and confirmed a deceased adult male was in the back of the van. Based on their initial observations, they suspected the death may have been by suspicious means and requested detectives to respond.
Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. Detectives discovered the victim had been shot multiple times. The victim’s identity will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner. No
