Ok, so this story hit the papers and the news channels first thing this morning…
From the Sacramento Bee:
The Farmer’s Daughter restaurant in Sacramento received lukewarm dining reviews from critics, but its baked goods allegedly packed a punch.
“You could go have sandwiches and soup, but if you ordered the brownie for dessert, you had to be specific what you wanted,” said Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.
In a raid early Wednesday, narcotics detectives from the department recovered 80 pounds of marijuana from a back-room medical marijuana dispensary at the restaurant in Sacramento as well as from the owners’ home in Rio Linda, he said. The proprietors of the restaurant, 64-year-old Robert Sand and 50-year-old Shelby Lucero, were taken into custody in Rio Linda and booked on felony possession, cultivation and criminal conspiracy charges.
My, oh my… Selling dope out the back door and munchies out the front.
CBS13 reported:
Deputies confiscated a total of 80 pounds of processed marijuana, some plants and edible cannabis products like ice cream from the “Farmer’s Daughter” restaurant and a residence, in connection to the restaurant, in the 1800 block of Elkhorn Boulevard.
The hilarious part comes from the reviews at Yelp.com…
The food was good and the staff is friendly. But for some reason this place REALLY weirds me and my co-worker out each time we have come. Why are there so many cameras? Why are random people coming in and going to a backroom that is locked? Each time we have come we are the only ones eating and it is during lunch hour. However many people come in, are let into the backroom, are in there for about 5 to 10 minutes, then leave. Is this place a front for some other type of operations running behind closed doors?
So I go to the register to pay and it takes me about 10-15 minutes to pay and leave. The guy behind the counter apologizes and says “sorry we are swamped today.”. I look around and it’s just me and one other customer…
The aroma in the restaurant made me stay and order some simple “good for your body/wellness” food.
Had an amazing sandwich, great soup, and the best brownie I’ve ever had.
I Always had a funky feeling about this place. Beware!
The restaurants’ owners are being held on $250,000 bail.
