In the early hours of Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an incident that unfolded on Cornelia Way in North Highlands. At approximately 1:30 A.M., law enforcement received multiple reports of a brawl at a residence in the 4100 block of Cornelia Way. Callers also conveyed that gunshots had been fired, sending over 50 panicked partygoers into the streets. Simultaneously, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received an activation alert from ShotSpotter, detecting nine gunshots originating from the same location.
Deputies swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered an adult male victim lying on the street, suffering from a head injury that appeared to result from the physical altercation, possibly due to a blunt object. Additionally, a second adult male was found with a gunshot wound to his leg. Both injured individuals received immediate medical attention and are expected to recover.
Upon interviewing witnesses, it was revealed that the residence where the altercation occurred was a vacation rental used for the party.
No arrests have yet been made, and no suspects have been taken into custody.
